Bump Forward ::: Actors no closer

It seems that the actors will be banging their little heads against the walls for a while longer. Negotiations are still in the works. As I was reading on Defamer it seems that there are some "stumbling blocks" in place. Which will push the deal closing back.

Here is a quote:

We are confronting a number of challenging issues, and a
resolution may not be quick or easy.... AFTRA members and the Industry
should be able, given appropriate safeguards, to satisfy and profit
from the consumers' desire to access content through legitimate New
Media sources, as opposed to the unlawful and uncompensated piracy that
threatens the entire entertainment industry.
There
are no easy solutions, which means that our Negotiating Committee must
be both innovative and pragmatic, and the Industry must also embrace a
realistic approach.

(FROM VARIETY) — "George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, and Tom Hanks have banded together to urge the Screen Actors Guild to begin its contract negotiations with Hollywood producers quickly and thus avoid a strike that would further hold up development on movie projects."

Many of these projects has been put on hold do to the Writers 100 Day strike against the heads of industry. Now that the strike is over, the other areas that have been affected by it, needs to utilize this time when the ink in the pens are still hot. George Clooney urges, that the A-Listers wants SAG to begin negotiating contracts and get the ball rolling. SAG is sluggish to do so and beg to differ, feeling that a wait on negotiating will grant them more leverage, when they finally sit down to go over terms.

EW Reports :
"The SAG contract expires June 30, but talks have not yet been scheduled."

George Clooney States: ''I think there's a lot of strike fatigue, and I think you actually start losing negotiating power,'' he said. ''I would hope we in the Screen Actors Guild get back to the table.''
